Good morning readers!!
Easter is approaching rather quickly and I can't believe that its almost April already!!
For the next few weeks we will be diving into the bible to see where exactly WE as humans fit into God's story. Its important to know this as an individual so we can have peace ourselves, pass this down to the next generation, share this with our spouses, or even strangers to fulfill the great commission.
Father I thank you for this time to come together as a time of fellowship to dig deep into your word. Let us be refined by the reading of your word so that we would be a useful vessel for you. In Jesus name we pray. Amen!
For many people the Bible seems like a random collection of stories. There is Adam, Abraham, Moses, and countless other characters until Jesus arrives.
How does thousands (about 6000) years worth of stories and characters fit together?
If they do indeed fit together, what does this grand story have to do with us as humans?
We have to look at the world through the eyes of the one who made it. God.
The very FIRST scripture in the bible is Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
From this we know that God DID exist prior to anything that existed.
This scripture simply says that God is alive. That he simply existed.
Here's a rundown of what happened next:
So in the beginning God created man.
God loved man.
God took them out of the garden but still provided for them.
Man turned away from God. God still provided for them.
Man continues to move away from God to the point where they are destructive.
God gets angry so much that He is ready to wipe away what he created.
One man and his family still loved God.
- God sent flood to destroy man, except for enough people to repopulate the earth.
God had to send his Son Jesus, to try and enteract with humans for us to follow Him. He wanted to get on our level. He wanted to build a personal in depth relationship with us. No other god that exist does this!
2 Timothy 3:16 says that All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.
God wanted to reveal himself to mankind so he wrote a book laced with himself that ultimately became "THE Story" of God.
Deep inside of us something tells us that there is something bigger than us. Remember that you and I are NOT the main characters of the story. We get to play a role but God is the main character.
God is everlasting and doesn't change. If you feel like God is changing please I beg you take that as the lie that it is.
Isaiah 40:28 Have you never heard? Have you never understood? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of all the earth. He never grows weak or weary. No one can measure the depths of his understanding.
When God made everything from day one up until humans He spoke things in creation. However, with us the dainty humans that we are . . . he created us differently. We are the only things he made uniquely.
He picked up dirt, blew the breathe of life into man and he was alive!! Why were we the only ones He did that with? Becasue he wanted to make something unique, something creative. Something that truly reflected His image.
After we were in the garden, mankind CHOSE to leave the story, and God was upset.
Years later when God wanted to invite us back into the story he created. That invitation was Jesus and He is the only way back into the story.
Last but not lease for today. . . this story isn't done yet. God gave us this role to play a part in His story but he doesn't want us to be greedy and hog it all for ourselves.
He wants us to invite others who accept the invitation from His Son Jesus to join the story.
So the best way to get God's story across to the world for people to understand it was by adding YOU to the story.
I hope that today's Bible study sparks you to dive deeper into His story. I pray you would thirst for His knowledge and never stop striving to be with Him.
Questions to ponder:
1. We as a society, are we DE-volving with the ease of technology doing everything for us?
2. Are you ready to be a part of His story? God is such a gentleman and would never force you to be with Him. He's such a gentle God. Please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like to be added to the greatest story of all time.
