Lets dive into the word this morning, but first lets pray.
Father I thank you for your time and for this opportunity to gather to study your word. Filter out our day, our thoughts and words to be closer to you today. Allow us to have an open spirit to receive your wisdom. In Jesus name Amen!
It's spring break which is the perfect time for vacation time with our young loved ones. While it's important to have fun times, don't forget to partake in rest this week too.
Rest for you.
Rest for your children.
Rest for your families spirits.
Its so important to highlight this.
We heard a sermon yesterday at church that really struck me because I'm so guilty of not resting enough. The pastor said on average within the past 100 years we as humans have shortened our sleep time by 2 hours!! That is so profound to me but I'm so guilty of this. My child is young so I do chores and projects after she goes to bed. Which usually makes me stay up later.
Lets turn our bibles to Hebrews 4. Go ahead and take a moment to read it.

The bible is very clear on what God thinks about rest. Ummm FYI its important. If we look at God even when he created all that he did, what did he do on the last day? He rested.
On a side tangent: Our last day of the week is Saturday. Meaning that Saturday is "technically" the Sabbath because it's the LAST day of the week not Sunday. Sunday is the first day of the week. However, religiousicity aside as long as you take one of those days off and make it holy and rest you're ok. Some religions are very strict on this but just make sure you have one day a week set aside like God asks us to. Trust me when my hubby and I were dating we went back and forth about this certain "day" being the Sabbath. He was definitely right about this after we did a study on the Sabbath together researching why that was. I love him so much for challenging me like that. It helps us both grow.
Ok side tangent over back to bible study.
Resting also is a surrender to God. We are saying to ourselves ok God yes I will submit myself to your will today and rest like you have commanded.
Even though projects beg for my attention.
Even though I have a million things to do.
Even though my family is stressed.
Without fail we rest, teach our children to rest and raise the next generation to not be workaholics.
Take a look at the following questions to discuss below, talk about amongst friends, or to challenge yourself. I know that I will.
1. Do you have one day a week where you can truly say can worship God, study His word, rest and relax?
2. Do you need to cut some things out of your schedule so that you can have rest? Remember you are no good to anyone if you are being recharged.
3. What will it take to teach your children this viable aspect into their lives?
4. How do you "rest" better?
Until next time,
